The Beast Gets Special Honour in Cannes!

The short fiction film The Beast, directed by Miroslav Sikavica and produced by the Zagreb-based company Propeler Film, has won the Illy Prize – Special Mention in the Directors’ Fortnight section (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs). The Beast premiered on Thursday, 19 May in this section, which takes place since 1969, in parallel with the Cannes Film Festival, presenting up-and-coming directors and authors of powerful and unique approaches and poetics.

Another award for 'Someone Might Drop a Cigarette Butt'

Josip Visković's film 'Someone Might Drop a Cigarette Butt' was proclaimed the winner of the DaKINO International Film Festival in Bucharest at the award-winning ceremony that took place on 15 March. The film received the DaKINO Award.

The film director Stere Gulea presided over the 23rd edition of this festival. Other members of the jury included the producer Dorota Roszkowska, actress Cosmina Stratan, member of European Film Academy Thom Palmen and film critic Dragos Marin. The festival took place from 12-16 March and Visković's film won in the competition of 26 short films.
